Spot Landing Trophy

IMG_4057.jpeg

The Spot Landing Trophy was established in the Spring of 2021 to be awarded to the winner of the spot landing contest.  These contests will be held at various times during the year and are intended to increase the skills of the pilots at the same time we all have fun.  Any excess proceeds from the events will be added to our scholarship funds.

Biesemeyer Award

The Biesemeyer Award was established in 1998 to recognize the most outstanding  LVVSA volunteer for the year. It was established to honor Ralph Biesemeyer,  one of the founding members of the club and exemplary volunteer, and to foster  the continued spirit of volunteerism that keeps the club alive. Nomination requests  for someone who has not previously won the award are sent with dues notices  in January and are reviewed by a committee of non-nominees. The nominee with  the most votes will be selected to receive the award at the annual club banquet.

Mortenson Award

The Mortenson Award was established early in the club's history, before OLC, to recognize the longest flight originating from Jean, NV, by a club member. It was established to honor Phillip "Mort" Mortenson, one of the founding members of the club and a strong advocate of cross-country soaring.  The member with the longest flight for the preceding year will receive the award at the annual club banquet in March.
